Ben & Jerry's co-founder makes limited-edition ice cream for Bernie Sanders

There's a new way to stay great while feeling the Bern.

Ben & Jerry's co-founder Ben Cohen on Monday revealed a new flavour of ice cream made simply for Sen. Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign.

"Nothing is so unstoppable as a flavor whose time has finally come," Cohen wrote on his Facebook site.

Rumors of a Bernie Sanders flavour from Ben & Jerry's have percolated for a few months, and the brand's co-founders floated the idea back in October. Finally, even so the dream of a flavour inspired by the 74-year-old democratic socialist has turned into a cold reality.

Bernie's Yearning, as the delectable election treat is known as, is not the official flavor of Ben & Jerry's, which is based in Sanders' home condition of Vermont. Bernie 2016, the Independent Vermont senator's official presidential advertising campaign, paid to make the flavor; Cohen made the ice cream on volunteered time, in line with the ice cream's website.

"Jerry and I have already been constituents of Bernie Sanders for the last 30 years," published Cohen on the Bernie's Yearning site. "We've seen him doing his thing and we believe in him. When we're out  speaking on his behalf people always ask if there's a Ben and Jerry's flavour. There's not. But if I were going to create one, this is exactly what it might be."

If you're wishing to snag a pint, you face some brutal competition. Cohen only made 40 pints, 25 of which were donated directly to the advertising campaign. 25 of which were donated to the advertising campaign directly. You are able to enter to win one of the 25 pints by entering this contest.

Update 4:43pm CT, March 31: If you live in New York City, you can go get a free flavour of Bernie's Yearning in Manhattan's Union Square

Enjoy it while supplies last
